Spring Is In The Air

I am wearing my weather with me today.
I may have woke to drizzle and cold but as I walked the dog I could see the buds on the trees and every morning at 6am it is getting lighter and lighter.
I am glad to be back but equally glad of the rest.

February was a busy month.
It was the month of my 24th wedding anniversary, Valentine's Day and my 47th birthday.
It was the month of half-term which meant my family enjoyed a relaxing week off together.
It was also a month that reminded me of just how precious my family is when I was asked to write an article for my old newspaper, The Liverpool Echo, about the James Bulger Murder Trial.
As a reporter and mother of a toddler I was asked to cover the murder trial of a toddler.
It was the toughest test of my 20 years as a journalist.
You can read the article here.

As I said before, I am wearing the weather today.
This lovely new spring coloured scarf was a birthday gift from my colleagues together with some chocolates and a beautiful notebook.

I have missed you all and look forward to catching up this weekend.
Have a good one.

I wore:
Boots: Boden
Jeggings, Top  and Cardigan: Marks and Spencer

I just can't believe it's been 20 years since the Bulger murder. What a sad reminiscence.

  9. What a lovely scarf they bought you, it is sure to put a smile on your face! I am glad of the early mornings to be honest and its so good to have you back! I can't imagine how you managed to write that article, my 2nd child was the same age as James when it happened and I can't tell you how many times I cried just thinking about what that poor baby went through before he lost his life. My nan always said "God don't pay debts with money" and I hope they get their just deserts xxx

  11. Hello,

Well you may be surprised to know that your blog is enjoyed all the way across the Atlantic Ocean in usually sunny Florida.

It's a chilly Friday night I've just finished a hard week at work and am listening to The Beatles on my computer at home with a glass of red wine while looking over some old photographs of my childhood home in Blundellsands on Google, and I came upon your blog and photographs. What a fantastic website and lifestyle you have. Its so nice to English taste and class. You have no idea how awful US fashion is. They could well do with some tips from you! Not to worry. I'm a very normal father of 3 beautiful children and I've been on the other side of the pond for decades. It's just great to see somebody doing so well from my old hometown and loving what they do.

Every now and again I like to see how the old place looks. I used to live on the Serpentine South back in the 60's and early 70's. Now I live by the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, but every now and again I think back to the heady days of Beatlemania and the wonderful childhood I had in Liverpool.

Anyway, keep up the good work, the great family and the great blog.

Believe it or not we may even get snow flurries in Florida this weekend !

  14. Ahh, you look lovely, that pretty scarf is certainly a little taster for Spring! Nice to have you back, Jane.
Oh the Jamie Bulger case was so horrific and tragic, and the reasons for it, the circumstances that allowed it to happen, remain unexplained.
I don't suppose it seems like 20 years on for his parents and family.
Belated happy birthday and anniversary. xxxx
