Blue and Cream Check Dress
I love the print of this Matalan dress which screamed "buy me" from the store.
Every morning when I am deciding what to wear this dress shouts "wear me".
But every time I wear it I am not sure whether it is such a great dress.
I love the print, the length and the soft cotton material.
But there is something about the fit and the too short sleeves which make me doubt.
Anyway, it's too late now.
I have thrown on this scarf/shawl I found in Oxfam for £1.99 yesterday.
I think the shawl gives me so many possibilities to play with, dress up the dress and keep warm which is essential in the changeable weather.
Dress - Matalan
Boots - Clarks
Scarf - Oxfam

Hi there-wow, what a fab scarf, thats a great find and is very versatile and chic for this season! another lovely outfit choice!
ReplyDeleteI really like the print of the dress and the shawl looks really good with it. Great find!
ReplyDeleteGreat shawl. There is something about the proportion of the ruffle at the bottom of the dress that gets cut off with the boots to my eye. I'd like to see it with lighter tights, maybe even a pale blue like the "stripe" in the dress or perhaps grey shoes. You do look very comfortable tho.

I like it with the shawl!
ReplyDeleteLove those Clarks boots!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the third look.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a cute dress- it has a casual feel that I love about it. the fit doesn't look off from the pictures, but I see what you mean about the feel- it lengthens your torso, which isn't something you normally do.
ReplyDeleteHa! I love it when our clothes talk to us;)
ReplyDeleteI think we all have that kind of relationship with certain clothes in our own closets. I think sometimes it has to do with the cut or that the outfit itself; doesn't somehow really speak to whom we are at the moment. However, I have to say that you do look quite good in this outfit. It does look like the fabric is soft and that scarf/sweater just makes it look even more cozier. You look very stylish and the boots -- it's like everyone lately is sporting the most amazing boots!
Love the shawl - what a find! It's obvious that you love this dress, maybe it just doesn't feel right because you haven't found a perfect way to wear it yet. Whenever I buy a new piece, I try it on with absolutely everything else in my wardrobe to see what it feels best with. I know you like to team your dresses with jeans - is this dress too long to do that? Or maybe some leggings now that the weather is colder. Maybe you just have to set aside a little time to play 'dressing up' and see what you discover. x
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure what to think about the dress, either, but I understand why you love it all the same.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I wont manage to get pictures of my last outfits from the wardrobe challenge :( my mobile keeps on refusing to upload the pictures to my pc and the camera is still dead.
I'm still looking forward to see the round up :)
What a brill find that shawl was! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI love that dress personally, but I have a couple like that, everything about them says I should love them, but if there is a slight something wrong it bugs me all day!
Matalan half price sale started today!!! I'm going tomorrow...
WOW! Solely a FABULOUSLY CHIC LOOK! I luv it!!!:))
ReplyDeleteI do like that shawl! I know what it's like when something about a dress isn't quite perfect but the comfort factor keeps you from tossing it. Maybe it would work best the way you are wearing it here, as a layering piece? Have you tried it with a waistcoat over it, for example?
ReplyDeleteThis is where the strength of the comments section comes in. I really appreciate everyone's advice and tips for the dress. In days of old I would have left it in the back of my wardrobe where it would gather dust. Now I am going to try out a few suggestions including Heather's to layer it and Kari's with the waistcoat.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for taking the time and trouble to leave a coment.
I love that dress, especially the ruffle bottom!
