Ruby

 

According to Wikipedia, authors Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz noted in their 2007 book Baby Name Bible that Ruby is a "vibrant" name with a "sassy and sultry image", while Laura Wattenberg wrote in her 2005 book The Baby Name Wizard: A Magical Method for Finding the Perfect Name For Your Baby that Ruby has the image of a woman "kicking up her heels" at a music hall.

 

I like the idea of kicking up my heels at a music hall especially in my faux biker boots.

If William and Kate are thinking of baby names for their future queen I quite like the idea of a future monarch kicking up  her heels at a musical hall.

Rusty

Poor old Rusty has been residing in the back of my wardrobe for a while.

It was only when I carried out a wardobe sweep to find all my dresses for Dressember that I found her rolled in a ball (think the daughter must have borrowed her!)

But good old reliable Rusty - no ironing was needed.

I just hung her up and the wrinkles just faded away.

If only I could do that with my face.

 

I thought I would share an outerwear photo with you today.

I bought this coat at the beginning of last winter from Debenhams.

I love the trench style and the way I can wear it buttoned up military style or open with a scarf.

My faithful leather bowling bag which I use every working day was picked up for less than £40 in the Clarks sale last spring.

This dress is responsible for my Dressember decision to name my dresses.

As soon as I saw it in the Boden catalogue last August I knew it would be a good buy.

I have worn it nearly every week since.

There are other colours and I will be crossing my fingers and hoping there are still some left in the sale.

Serena

 

 I bought this dress to go to a family party one Christmas.

It has proved to be a versatile dress.

I have worn it sleeveless, with a sweater over and under and today it comes layered over a blouse.

 

When I wear this dress I feel very serene.

I wore it a lot the year I did my post graduate teaching qualification (PGCE).

That was probably the worst year of my life.

As I struggled to keep control of a class of rowdy year 9s during countless observations where my every move was crticised in the minutest detail I felt far from serene.

But this dress kept me calm.

Scarlett

 

Possibly one of my Dress BFFs, Scarlett.

Whatever mood I am in Scarlett always brings a smile to my face.

Whatever the weather Scarlett brightens the day.

If it's a night out she's there in all her strapless wonder.

While during the day she is happy to cosy up over or under a sweater.

Come rain or shine Scarlett is always there for me.

She always makes me feel amazing.

Just like a true BFF.

Meet Debbie.

 

Plain talking and down to earth.

Solid and depdendable.

This study tunic dress I have named Debbiewill pretty much take anything you throw at it on a lazy Sunday morning.

 

Actually it wasn't such a lazy morning.

It was fairly busy as my husband has lost our car keys.

The only set of car keys.

He went out on Friday night with some old school friends.

Drove to the pub and left the car there.

It wasn't until Saturday morning when we were going to pick it up that he realised he had lost the keys.

Or should I say computer programmed whizzy thing that will cost us a couple of hundred pounds to replace.

While I enjoyed not being used as a taxi service by the kids, I wams't so impressed about humping great big  bags of shopping home.

 

Luckily my workplace is on a bus route!

Thank heavens for Debbie keeping me sane.

It's Dressember.

 

I pledge to wear a dress a day for the whole of December.

I have to confess - this should be easy.

I love dresses.

I love my dresses so much they are like friends.

So much so I think I will start to name them.

Today's dress is one of my old favourites.

I could have worn this in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s as well as the noughties.

Denim dresses are timeless.

 

When I think of denim I think 1970s.

I think Farrah Fawcett Majors and Charlie's Angels.

 

 

If only I had been 5ft 4in I would have joined the police, just like the little girls who went to the police academy.

 

Maybe that's why I ended up marrying a police officer!
