The September Issue

I can see this skirt becoming an autumn/winter staple.
It is so easy to wear and goes with all my tops which is a timely way of linking to my Project 333 project.
A month in and I still haven't reached my 33 total and as soon as I do I will post a full inventory.

Meanwhile, here is a round-up of my September outfits.

Raspberry Sunday

The sun is still shining  but there is a crisp breeze in the air.
Raspberry seems the perfect colour for jeans when the season turns from summer to autumn.
Or maybe I was thinking ahead to what I had cooked for Sunday Dinner pudding.

I wore:
Shoes - Clarks
Top - Boden
Jeans - Tesco
Jacket - Debenhams
Scarf - Next

Golden Moments

Off to Manchester on Saturday evening for my aunt and uncle's Golden Wedding and what better dress to wear than my cream and gold dress.

It was a lovely chance to meet up with my brother and his family along with some of my cousins.
I think it was a bittersweet evening for my mum as this year would have also been her Golden Wedding.

We all missed dad but I am sure he was looking down on everyone.

I wore:
Shoes - TK Maxx
Bah - Gap

Her Indoors

So the weather has broken again and the rain has come.
Time to switch the photography indoors for the early morning shoot.
Most of my photographs are taken around 7.30am before I leave for work so very soon I won't have a choice.

Here's a round-up of this week's outfits.

This weekend I am off to Manchester to celebrate my aunt and uncle's Golden Wedding.
What are your weekend plans?

Purple Rain

I braved the raindrops to get a quick snapshot of this outfit.
It looks so much better in the daylight.
My bargain top - less than a fiver from the charity shop a year ago and still with its label on.
The bandage skirt was £5 in the Marks And Spencer summer sale.
I just love a good bargain.

I wore:
Shoes - Clarks
Skirt - Marks and Spencer
Top - Vero Moda

What To Wear To Cycle To Work

I don't wear anything specialist to cycle to work.
The thought of lycra makes me shudder.
As long as I can get a coat over it, pretty much anything goes.
I take my inspiration from glamorous cycling bloggers like this one.
So it made me smile when my son got in from school.
"My PE teacher was impressed when he saw you cycling to work this morning mum. He asked me if you cycle all the way to work. In those boots."
I looked down and for the first time saw myself as others do.
But actually cycling in heels is much more sensible than it sounds.
When I have to stop, my feet hit the ground so much quicker.
Today I thought I would share my cycle to work with you before it gets too dark in the mornings.

A mile from home and I hit three miles of cycle track.
Three miles in and it's time to meet the horses.
Sometimes they come to the fence.

Almost four miles and by the RAF base.

I have missed out the three miles of road and I am just a mile away here as I take a short cut through the hospital and past the pond.
Competing for space with the pigeons.

Just one minute away.
And finally, after 8.5 miles and 45 minutes I am here.

Any questions?

Layer Love

Off to work on my bike again today.
I am determined to make the most of the dry weather and cycle while there is still some light left at the end of the day.
It is such a wonderful way to unwind and when I get home I can relax knowing I have cycled 17 miles or 90 minutes that day.

The temperature can vary by 20 degrees from 7.30am until I leave at 4.30pm so I need a few layers to ensure I am comfortable.

It is rare but today I got it just right.

I wore:

9. Jeans - Tesco
25. Leopard Shirt
Shoes - Clarkss
17. Jacket - Paul Costelloe

Leather And Leopard

OK so it's only faux leather but it looks the same and feels the same as the leather skirt I owned in the 1980s.
I have had it for a while but thought I would put it through a full working day to see how it stands up.
And it came out well.
I think this will be another workhorse for my winter wardrobe.

I paired the skirt with my faithful old leopard print shirt.
A perfect wash and wear blouse.
And of course, the Paul Costelloe Jacket which has become a great Autumn coat.

I wore:
24. Black Faux Leather Skirt - ASOS
25: Leopard Shirt - Marks and Spencer
Shoes - Clarks
17. Jacket - Paul Costelloe
Bag - Clarks

The Enchanted Wood

Summer has come back this weekend.

I had planned to go shopping for a winter coat but a walk in the woods was more appealing.

I just love the way the light filters though the trees.
It reminds me of my favourite childhood book, The Enchanted Wood.

The blackberries were ripe and ready for picking.

I have never seen so many mushrooms.

Sadly, I do not know much about mushroom picking and wasn't taking any chances.

But don't they look amazing?

Here's Paul's birthday T-shirt.
"Old Guys Rule."

I wore:
26. Floral Shirt - Zara
5. Blue Skinnies - Gap
27> Jumper - Boden

Weekly Wears

A weekly outfit round-up.
Not as much black as I'd feared.
I wonder what next week will bring.
Enjoy the weekend

I Go Back To Black

I was determined to stay away from black this A/W but my cosiest clothes seem to be black with a little white.
This jacket is certainly earning its keep.

Today was also the first time I got to wear a T-shirt I picked up in the summer sales.
It has faux leather arms and around the collar and cost £6.
I am hoping to maximise the t-shirt.
My wardrobe is never too packed for another striped top.

On the Project 333 front I am  now up to 23 items and have 10 more to go.
I will be planning the rest of my items very carefully.

I wore:
Boots - Boden
20. Treggings - Top Shop
23. T-shirt - Dorothy Perkins
17. Jacket - Paul Costelloe

Crabby

God!
I look a crabby old cow today .
I remind myself of our old French teacher Miss Cohen who must be knocking on 70 now.
She was very strict.
But she liked to dress up.
I like to imagine that she is now one of those funky fabulous fashionistas featured on Channel 4 the other night.
If you haven't seen it then visit the Channel 4,website.
It was the best piece of TV this year.

I wore:
Boots - Clarks

Black And Blue

Still chilly at work and a good few weeks until the heating gets switched on.
Thanks heavens for my lovely warm Paul Costelloe Jacket which I wore over my navy dress and yes, beneath the dress is a thermal vest.
September and I am wearing a thermal vest.
Scary.

I wore:
Shoes - Clarks
15. Dress - Boden
17. Jacket - Paul Costelloe

Treggings

Finally, the answer to the perennial leggings issue.
Treggings - a mixture of trousers and leggings - means they are slim enough to fit easily into my boots yet thick enough that I don't feel as if I am wearing a pair of tights as trousers.
And even better these Top Shop Treggings are high-waisted which means they are comfortable and warm.
Never thought I would hear Top Shop and comfortable in the same sentence.

I wore:
Boots - Clarks
20. Treggings
14. Top - M and Co
Scarf - New Look

Happy Birthday: Part Two

Happy 22nd Birthday to Sam, our firstborn.
Yes, I went into labour during my husband's birthday celebrations in 1991.
And it is true what they say about curries!

Lost And Found

The good news is that Joe's driving licence has been found.
The bad news is that the person who found it posted a long letter on The Lad's Bible taking the mickey out of my son and at the last count had 5,000 likes.
But thanks to the power of social networking my son had contacted the person who found it via twitter and is making arrangements to get it back.

So much for a quieter life when Joe went to university.

Today was a busy day at work and it rained for most of the day.
I wanted a warm, easy to wear outfit.
But even I am shocked to discover that I am wearing black tights before the end of September.

14. Striped Top - M and Co
18. Black Bandage Skirt -  Marks and Spencer

Wednesday Woes

Joe has been gone
three days and already we have received an SOS.
He has lost his driving licence.
He took a taxi back to where he thought he'd lost it.
Not there.
Got a taxi back.
Now just £5 to last the rest of Freshers' Week.
I did tell him Uni would be a steep learning curve.
In budgeting.
The academic stuff is a doddle.
It is the life skills that pose the struggle as most of us who have been schooled in the university of life will agree.
I sent him a long email on budgeting.
His dad transferred £50 to his bank account.
Mr Nice and Mrs Nasty.
Ah well.

I wore:
2. Breton Top
5, Gap Skinnies
8. Gap Jacket
