What can I wear with this skirt.....

apart from a black polo?

I bought this skirt from Tesco the other day when I was shopping.
I love it, but whatever I pair it with it doesn't seem right.
I hate black polo /roll necks as they drain the colour from my face.
Blouses never fit as they gape too much at the chest.
I am wishing I hadn't torn off the label even though I do love the skirt.
Any suggestions you stylists out there?

  1. I just bought 2 pussy bow blouses from h&m for 9.99 each, one orange and one cream, both colours would go great with this and there wouldn't be a button problem as they are quite lose and its usually a problem I have as well, but these are a great loose style, perfect for tucking in. xx

  2. A plain black top with a cream lace peter pan collar would look great with this. I often find a lace collar breaks up a potentially drab looking outfit at this time of year. You cn buy lace collar necklaces on Ebay usually. Tan brown accessories would look good too x

  3. Oooh I would go with either, or both, of the suggestions of Looking Fab and Lucy.

Actually a pussy bow blouse in cream or orange would be great with the skirt but worn under one of the two vintage long waistcoats I bought today. One is in soft tan leather with self-covered buttons, the other in rather heavier mushroom coloured suede with funky gilt buttons. Both probably early 70s. I've got a feeling that you showed us something similar a while ago?

(I shall be showing these on my blog with some other recent 'finds' in a few days.) Cx

  4. *Delurks* this would be amazing with jewel toned cardigans tucked in or vnecks. Try purple, teal, or burgundy :-)

  5. I agree with the above good advice, and I would consider going very feminine with a lacy blouse (loose cut) in ivory. Maybe some textured hose and lace up booties.

  6. I agree with the other posters, a jewel coloured pussy bow blouse with a waistcoat over the top to stop the embarrasing gaping! x

  7. perhaps some sort of color. I know that I even wear tee's with skirts like this. When I first did that, it felt like a violation...but I'm comfortable with it now.

  8. Jewel tones or a creamy beige sweater would be great! Teal with teal shoes.

  9. You have rec'd some great suggestions already. I'd keep with the rust/cream tones which are great for autumn.

  11. Jane, this is a gorgeous skirt. I'd love to see a crisp white business shirt with this for work-wear. Maybe dress it down with a white (or any colour really) 3/4 sleeved boatneck and scarf??

  12. I would go with a rust orange top/tee tucked in and rich brown boots! Or a bright/lime green top and black boots or shoes!
