Budget Busting

My June clothing budget of £88 is well and truly blown.

I have bought lots of sale items that I have had my eye on for a while - but it means that I have spent more than double my monthly budget.

This belt from Gap was reduced to £9.99 from £24.99 and a new tan leather belt has been on my wishlist for a while.

To help me keep on the straight and narrow I have decided to create a monthly post of my purchases.
I am hoping this will help me stick to my budget in July which will be £0.

And to help with that plan I will be taking part in the 30 for 30 (or 31 for 31 as it is July), challenge.
I am glad I have given myself lots of time to think as July is an unusual month.
I will be in work for less than two weeks and then we break up on July 10th until August 22nd.

I am also going to be travelling to Wimbledon for Men's Final Day.
I don't have tickets for the final but I do have tickets for number 1 court that day.

And then there's the weather - at the moment we are experiencing wind, rain, grey skies, sunshine and thunderstorms - all in one day!

Do you set yourself a budget?
If so, how much?
And if you do - do you ever bust your budget too?
or is it just me?

I wore:
Shoes - Clarks
Shirt - H & M
Cardigan - Principles
Belt - Gap
Trousers - Primark
Necklace - Wallis
Sunglasses - TK Max

  1. Good luck with that! Love the way you've belted that cardi and the colour is lovely.
I don't have a budget but rarely spend over a tenner on an item of clothing, that's my limit. x

  2. My budget for the past few months has been zero! And I have managed to keep to it by either giving old items a touch of diy or having things to be cost neutral by selling unwanted thing on eBay and buying things only out of that.

I could spend a fortune on clothes and in the past I have but it come to a point where you wonder why you are when you don't actually wear half of whats in your wardrobe.

Good luck with your month if none spending. And I am sure you will do great on your 30 x 30 remix too.

  4. In this case the belt really makes the outfit and it was on sale too. A win/win I think.

I don't have a clothing budget, I'm not really much of a clothes shopper so it is kind of a non-issue. I apparently have expensive taste and when I spot something I like I have to spend some time wondering if it is worth it. Often it is not.

  5. Good luck with that.
    I have tried several things.
Once I did a 6 month shopping ban. Then I did a year of keeping record of my clothing expenses. Now I am keeping record and trying not to shop as much. Next year I do want to set a budget. We'll see how tht goes.

  6. I try ever so hard to stick to a budget, but you know...clothing just jumps into my cart!

    It's hard. I struggle. I am going to do a shopping ban....soon.

Good luck with your challenge; it could be fun!

  7. I do set myself a loose budget, about $100 a month. As you know, I mostly thrift...and lately I've been "collecting" rather than wearing the things I've purchased. I suspect I have a potential Etsy shop lurking in my mind.
